War Memorial is Still Special...

Sorry for the delay in posting! I've been extremely busy the last few weeks, but finally had a moment to post some images from the Alcorn State at Arkansas game this past Saturday at War Memorial stadium.

Saturday was a beautiful day at War Memorial Stadium. I was really hoping that we would have a larger crowd at kick-off, but from what I heard, there were some traffic issues which caused a lot of folks to be late. I donated this image to the Arkansas Army National Guard as a token of my appreciation for their service. As a veteran of both the Army National Guard and the USAF, I am especially proud of the men and women that serve our great nation.

In this photo, I caught Arkansas running back Rawleigh Williams III getting ready to catch a pass during warm-ups. I really love the intensity in his eyes. He is focused and has the look of a battle-seasoned warrior.

This was another fun photo. Coach Bret Bielema makes sure to touch every player during warm-ups. Check out the reflection of his hand and the player. Very cool!

Saturday was good day, as the Razorbacks won, but, unfortunately, it was also a bad day. Pictured here is Arkansas center Frank Ragnow. He lost his father, who was back in Frank's home state of Minnesota, shortly after the game. Our thoughts and prayers go out to this young man and his family as he deals with the loss.

I've mentioned before that I like tight shots that show action and detail. Here is another good example as Arkansas Safety Josh Liddell tackles an Alcorn State player. I captured this image at the moment of contact. Check out Josh's eyes!

This set of images above capture Arkansas running back Devwah Whaley's as he races to the south end zone for his first touchdown run as an Arkansas Razorback. Devwah was a highly recruited player coming out of Beaumont, Texas. Fans have been waiting to see his burst of speed and finally saw it on Saturday when he broke through the line for this 71 yard touchdown run. It's interesting, because I got a very similar image of Alex Collins' first touchdown as a Razorback, which also happened at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock:

Alex Collins scored his first touchdown in the north end zone as a Razorback on 9/7/2013.

Speaking of first touchdowns....two Arkansas kids scored their first touchdowns in the south endzone as Razorbacks on Saturday. Wide receiver LaMichael Pettway (above) from Nashville and running back T.J. Hammonds (below) scored in his home town of Little Rock.
